Dr. Elwood has over 15 years of experience in health and wellness in a variety of different roles. Most prominently, he has focused on innovative care delivery models which take into account expanding the scope of patient care and improving outcomes through improved communications and education.
To this end, Dr. Elwood has spent a great deal of time on:
- Advising a number of start-ups in health
- Founding two companies
- Working for a biopharma company in both medical and commercial, leading the metabolics franchise for strategy and innovation
- Conducting research on mobile, digital, and connected health at NYU Langone Medical Center and applying those learnings to grant-funded and entrepreneurial programs
- Authoring a chapter in the HIMSS annual publication on mobile health, patient engagement, gamification, and outcomes
- Publishing multiple articles on health behavior, innovation, outcomes, and technology in health
- Leading several major thought leadership initiatives through podcasts, websites, social media, and other means on topics like immuno-oncology, health innovation, mobile and digital health, and many other topics
- Working with developing companies on products or services related to big data, unstructured data, genetics, personalized and precision medicine, sensor-based technology, and many other areas within health
- Starting a national telehealth service line and leading physician and genetic services protocol development
