Bio

Co-founder of successful healthtech startup initially self-funded. $1M raised via AngelList following the first successful (non-equity) crowdfunding in healthcare. Previously founder of Microsoft's health platform business that now generates > $2B annually. Dave has a unique blend of HealthIT and consumer Internet leadership experience that is well suited to the bridging the gap between Health IT systems and individuals receiving care. Besides his role as CEO of Avado (update: acquired by WebMD in Q4 2013), he is an author for HIMSS (Book of the Year winner) and California Health Care Foundation and regular contributor to Reuters, Forbes, TechCrunch, Huffington Post, Washington Post, KevinMD and others.

Before Avado, Dave spent several years in startups in founder, acting executive, or consulting roles in market-leading companies such as LiveRez.com, MarketLeader, and WhatCounts.

Before startups, Dave played leadership roles in launching new businesses within Microsoft. He founded Microsoft's Healthcare business guiding Microsoft from its worst vertical market to its strongest and a market leading position. His work led to recognition as being named Marketer of the Year. That year Bill Gates recognized Dave as orchestrating one of two most impactful uses of Bill's time for the entire year.

Dave has also been a successful investor and adviser to early-stage companies. Dave's entrepreneurial roots go back to building up a lawn mowing business in junior high to helping pay his way through college leading ski trips to Whistler.
